Time

The days pass so incredibly quickly. I thought it was only a few days since my last post when in fact it's been over a week. My time in any case has been focused on my upcoming trip. You can read more about it in the travel section. It requires a lot of planning, and it's not as if I'm planning everything in detail; rather it's more a case of trying to get an idea of the main highlights available in each country, but when there's a lot of countries involved it still makes for a lot of work.

Fantastic day

Before you ask, no, I am not paying homage to Nick Kershaw, rather I am being descriptive about the contents of today. It being a Friday is naturally a fine start to any day, but it turned into something more special. For whatever reason, and somewhat annoyingly the reason is unbenownst to me, I have been gripped with writing inspiration today. I hammered out 500 words in 20 minutes over breakfast this morning and realised that perhaps I should try to work more in the mornings before I head off to, well, work. It does seem to be a fine time to seize upon inspiration though. Yet it did not finish there. Toward the conclusion of the afternoon I was instructed that we needed some narrative material on an aspect of the work for a magazine. With not an ounce of lethargy in sight I began and although it was not needed to be finished until early next week I was all done. Although I didn't have chance to proof read it, I'm pretty sure it was good. The words flowed out of me, and and it's this natural expression that I need to be able to tap into more often. I suspect the fact that it was a quiet day at the end of a relatively quiet week has helped to keep the mind clear. Let it continue, as this sense of inspiration and the urge to write reams on topics that are clear in my head is truly magnificent.

Travel online

In something of an oversight, given that I generally try to announce new content on the website as soon as it is freshly uploaded, it is my rather overdue pleasure to give mention to the travel section of the website, which has been given a bit of a face lift.

Returning to the www.eurobahn.co.uk address, which I only recently noticed had been so neglected, the travel section of the site is now in its own design, which better suits the long pages often required, which the existing formatting wasn't really allowing for. Now every destination fits comfortably on a single page. I will gradually reintroduce the images to that section as well which has been long overdue and in part limited by page sizes too.

As far as content updates are concerned it's the Austria section which has seem the greatest facelift, owing to my trip there over New Year.

Sea legs

Today was another day, and did I feel like a different person compared to yesterday. The feeling of land-based seasickness had subsided, and I had found my sealegs, albeit for terra firma. Off to work then, and the day passed uneventfully, aside from being further punctured by the nurse at the GP's surgery to protect me from yet more potentially nasty ailments when travelling in foreign lands.

Sick

I've been seriously under the weather today. I realised something was amiss when I woke up and the room was spinning. I stumbled like a drunkard into the bathroom where I spent a moment trying to weigh up if I wanted to be sick or not. It's the closest you come to feeling seasick while being firmly on dry land. Not a good one.

I phoned into work saying that I wasn't going to be in, and it's taken over 12 hours for me to feel even remotely like logging on and checking out how the on-line world's been getting on without me. I'm still far from 100% right, although I did manage to consume a bowl of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes earlier, which I reckon is a good start.

I'm hoping to be back on form for tomorrow as I've got a good few things to be doing, and with various plans approaching I can't afford to waste too much time. On the plus side at least I did from time to time feel bright enough during the day to read up in some of my travel guidebooks, which is something I've been needing to do of late, so I suppose the day wasn't a complete write off.
